Loss of Speech & Night Sweats

Postby Loves2ride » Thu Jun 18, 2009 10:44 am

Has anyone ever had bouts of loss of speech? When first diagnosed (May 2008), it happened quite frequently. Now it's intermitent. My neuro told me it's "all in my head" and did nothing for it.

Also, what about night sweats? I sweat a great deal each and every night, but only my head!...nothing lower!!

Where on your spine was your lesion? Most people do not sweat below their lesion. I know mine was at T8-T10 and I do sweat above my waist all the time and not below.
I have not had nor do I remember hearing about loss of speech. I think your neuro would be checking you out for other reasons for the loss of speech. If it has nothing to do with TM then I would ask him or perhaps your GP could recommend someone else to check out this problem. Perhaps someone else has heard of speech problems.

I have multiple lesions on my brain. Perhaps that's why my head is the only part of me that sweats!?!?

I would definately be asking to see someone else about the loss of speech. I was told for almost 6 months after my TM started that all my symptoms were in my head, that there was nothing wrong with me. Am so glad I finally decided to find another doctor and found out what was going on. Never settle for brush offs by doctors, alot of are really good at it.

If you have lesions in your brain have they not diagnosed you with MS and not TM? Lesions in your brain could cause loss of speech if they are in the Language Center of the brain.

My lesion is at T1 and I only sweat from my neck up (for the most part).

Greetings Loves2ride,
I get those sweats occasionally, too... just around the neck and hairline. I wake up drenched sometimes.
