Botox????

Postby Sarah Nguyen » Sat May 30, 2009 4:04 pm

my new orthopedic doctor told me i needed botox recently and i knew this was coming sooner or later. I was avoiding it because with the financial issues my family was dealing with i didn't want to bring up my medical bills. my insurence never approves anytihng for me and without insurence my family can't afford anything. i was wondering how much does botox usualy cost and how frequently i have to get it? does insurence cover it or just part of it?

Sarah,

i assume you are covered under your parent's insurance? When I was receiving Botox, it cost about $1200.00 My co-pay under my husbands insurance was $40.00, I only had to pay for the pain doctor visit/injections.

If I remember correctly you go about every 3 months, I was surprised my insurance didn't fight it either, it may be the way the doctor words it. since I was getting in my upper back & neck the prescription read: Cervical dystonia

I think someone else on here had her's approved through Medicare. I wish you the best.

Marie,
botox is used for Spasticity. TM, MS, Dystonia, etc..

Hi Sarah,

I had botox in my bladder. For me it was great, except the bowels forgot what they were doing. I believe it lasts for a variable length of time. Sometimes it doesn't workat all, the longest I've heard was 18 months. For me it's since Oct last year. Over here we get it for free so I can't advice on costs.

All the best,
I feel so much better since I stopped trying to get well.

TM since 09:30 Friday 13th November 1987, wish I could say full recovery.

Sarah,
I got my left leg Botoxed for over 2 years. Each vial costs about $1000, that's about 2 doses per bottle if I remember correctly.

It lasts anywhere from 3-6 months.

I didn't pay for it either as Medicare covered it for me in Canada.

marieblond,
Botox is used to decrease spasticity and clonus in muscles.
