Immunoglobulin treatment with ADEM

involves demyelination in the spinal cord and in the brain. The demyelination in the brain is different than a demyelinating attack from MS; the lesions are scattered and do not appear in the same pattern as those from an MS attack.

Immunoglobulin treatment with ADEM

Postby Chief » Sun Sep 19, 2010 6:07 pm

Hi, has anybody undergone an immunoglobulin treatment with ADEM? My wife was on several kinds of steroids but last MRI still shows no improvement in the activity of the lesion in her brain. In other words, the infection did not subside. The next step is an immunoglobulin course. Anybody has experience with this? What dosage are we talking about? Is it daily through IV etc?

Thanks !

Thanks Jayne. How did your son AJ respond?

Basically, our neurologist doesn't want to use immunoglobulin as he thinks the risks of infected blood is too high...
