involves demyelination in the spinal cord and in the brain. The demyelination in the brain is different than a demyelinating attack from MS; the lesions are scattered and do not appear in the same pattern as those from an MS attack.

I had ADEM in 2006. I'm all better now, just some fatigue and some balance problems. While I was recovering, I wrote down my story. If anyone would like to read it: http://www.brainlesions.blogspot.com. The whole story isn't there yet. I am posting small pieces as I edit.

Nina,
I love how I keep running into you via the ADEM websites...hahahaha! Cool blog! I like the name. When I went to my neuro last time, I found a shirt online that said "Lesions, I don't need no stinking lesions!" I wanted to wear it. Still haven't bought it though... Take care!

Hi NIna,
Have just finished reading your blog, can't wait to see the rest of it! What a terrible time you had. Your parents must have been worried sick, while you were so happy!!! I find it so hard to understand the mentality of the doctors you came into contact with before the Stanford admission, why did they not believe you or your parents? couldn't they see for themselves how sick you were neurologically. Being unable to stand alone and slurred speech is enough to ring alarm bells, surely to god.

I look forward to the next chapter in your journey.

:ymhug:
Keep well

HI Nina

Whew!! What a terrible time you had. Right now. I am going thru lots and
lots of(for 18 months now) nerve pain (burrrrning, feels like my skin is being sliced, hypersensitivity
tight banding around torso and fatigue) these are nothing compared to what
you went through. Cannot wait for the rest of your disorder story.

Take Care

Hi Nina:
What a terrible time you and your family went through. Once I opened your blog, I was glued to it. I'm impatient to read the next entry. Your writing is so descriptive.
